Eugene An

After taking a brief break from presenting the members of the month, our staff is back in action! What better way to once again acknowledge our members on an individual basis than to start with one of our most hard working and consistent members? Eugene An is an athlete who comes to the gym day in and day out ready to put in work. It doesn’t matter if the training he has to do is terrible, he comes in with his head down ready to put his nose to the grindstone. This year has been extremely special for Eugene as he has been celebrating the birth of a beautiful baby girl. Despite the exhaustion that comes with being a first-time parent Eugene still comes to the gym ready to pay the man. Congratulations on being CFNP’s September Member of the Month!

How long have you been Crossfitting?

I think over 3 years now! I started at the old box. (Shoutout to the Veterans!)

What made you try CrossFit?

I was interested in learning different movements and CrossFit had stuff I had never even heard of before.

What has been your biggest accomplishment while at CFNP?

I’d say my biggest accomplishment has been my diligence. I really do try to go, even when I don’t want to and at least give an effort that’s somewhat respectable. Some days are better than others but I can at least say I tried.

What’s the best thing(s) about CFNP?

It’s all about the people. everyone has the common goal to be more fit, but nobody is a jerk about it. There’s no ego and I feel like our members would readily cheer someone on even if it meant their time/score would

Which class time do you most commonly attend?

Usually the 530 class.

Is competing one of your goals?

I competed once with Francisco (one of the old school members). It was super fun even though we might have come in last place (THANKS, FRANCISCO). I would totally compete again in a team comp.

Do you have any advice for someone on the fence about trying CrossFit or joining CFNP?

Don’t be intimidated by the loud music or weights. Just give it a shot and you’ll see a community that is welcoming to all levels of fitness. If you stick with it, the changes you’ll see physically and more importantly, mentally, will be so rewarding.

What keeps you motivated?

I want to be a healthy husband and father and be a good example for my daughter. I want her to know that trying to be healthy and fit is a lifelong journey that will have plenty of ups and downs. Just gotta keep swimming.

How has CrossFit changed your life?

I watch a lot of videos of people exercising. My wife thinks it’s weird.

What has been your favorite workout and why? I don’t have a favorite. My least favorite workouts are short ones..and long

What is your favorite cheat item?

I’d kill for pizza

What is your favorite activity to do outside the gym?

Since my daughter was born, any activity with her is my favorite. Except when she’s crying.
