Despite facing personal health adversities (more about that below) Aimee comes to CFNP and constantly works to improve her form and strength. She recently competed (see the picture of ferocity below) and she's hungry for more! Read on to find out more about this amazing woman!
How long have you been Crossfitting?
I’ve been Crossfitting for 7 years.
What made you try CrossFit?
I had recently got diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis & my doctors told me to stop running or doing any physical activity. I got tired of not moving so I decided to join Crossfit-I had heard that it was a new way of working out & that coaches would work with people who had limitations. After the first class, I was hooked.
What has been your biggest accomplishment while at CFNP?
My biggest accomplishment while at CFNP has been my latest deadlift PR at 220 pounds. I remember when lifting the 35-pound barbel was heavy for me.
What’s the best thing(s) about CFNP?
The best things about CFNP is the community & energetic coaches. It’s a great place to decompress after work & have fun.
Which class time do you most commonly attend?
I usually come to the 6:30/7:30 evening class.
Is competing one of your goals?
Competing is now one of my goals-I finally have the confidence to compete even though I’m not the best Crossfit athlete.
Do you have any advice for someone on the fence about trying CrossFit or joining CFNP?
My advice would be to try it out to see what your body is capable of. Your body will surprise you & it will only help motivate you even more. There are so many great coaches at CFNP that you’ll feel motivated to come back for more.
What keeps you motivated?
What keeps me motivated is that I get stronger & I have gained a great sense of self. I battle with my body every day but doing Crossfit motivates me to be happy & healthy.
How has CrossFit changed your life?
Crossfit has saved my life! I learned to eat a paleo diet which helped me get off weekly chemotherapy sessions & monthly injections. Crossfit has also changed my body image perspective & I now have a healthier self-image I want to attain.
What has been your favorite workout and why?
My favorite workout is Murph, because I am able to test my endurance & physical ability. And I always have in mind Lt. Michael Murphy & all the other brave service people, what they have & will endure protecting our country. My small moment of suffering doesn’t compare to the sacrifice & suffering that they endure.
What is your favorite cheat item?
Gluten-free pizza & red wine are my weekly cheat meals.
What is your favorite activity to do outside the gym?
My favorite activity to do outside the gym is camping & hiking. I love being outdoors & close to nature.
