Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for this month's Member of the Month Susie Marroquin! Susie has been with us for about 10 months and in that time she has dove in headfirst frequently asking coaches for additional movement support, nutrition guidance and even signing up for her very first Open! Outside of being a phenomenal athlete, she is also a mother to two feisty ladies (who you will frequently see at the gym), a jui jitsu enthusiast (Gracie Barra Pasadena) and a thrower of parties! Needless to say she juggles many hats but what draws us to her is her ability to do it all with ease and grace. Congratulations Susie and keep up the good work!
How long have you been CrossFitting?
What made you try CrossFit?
I joined a 60 day challenge at Nutrishop Pasadena and they introduced me to CrossFit and CFNP.
What has been your biggest accomplishment while at CFNP?
Wow, well I have two and both were accomplished during the Open. Being able to do handstand pushups and being able to do my first chest to bar.
What’s the best thing(s) about CFNP?
The encouragement you receive not only from the coaches but your fellow peers is AMAZING and sometimes necessary! I truly love and value the community and how inspirational every single person there is.
Which class time do you most commonly attend?
Is competing one of your goals?
I competed in October but yes it is a goal to compete again!
Do you have any advice for someone on the fence about trying CrossFit or joining CFNP?
I would definitely tell them to go for it. If you are looking for a place that will push you to your limits, motivate you, cheer you on and guide you through your fitness journey, THIS IS THE PLACE!
What keeps you motivated?
My daughters are my motivation. Teaching them to be well rounded women is extremely important to me and I must lead by example.
How has CrossFit changed your life?
It has taught me to believe in myself, to push myself through and that the only limits we have we place on ourselves.
What has been your favorite workout and why?
My favorite workout was 18.4 in the open. It made me realize how much I have grown and how much work I have ahead of me.
What is your favorite cheat item?
What is your favorite activity to do outside the gym?
Anything that allows me to spend time with my family, Church and training at Gracie Barra
Anything I missed that you would like to share?
I love throwing parties in particular coming up with themes and the décor aspect of it all!
