For the March member of the month we’ve chosen none other than our favorite pun serving, early rising Nohemi Ferguson! Nohemi has been with us for a while now and if you know anything about her you know that she is the kind of gal who will come in at 6am bright and chipper and ready to tackle the day. She'll most likely be toting her coffee mug that her son did a personal drawing on and she'll have her daughter in tow. As one of our masters athletes Nohemi shows us what CrossFit is really about- keeping fit with the family and staying healthy for longevity. For Nohemi it isn't just about coming into CrossFit and lifting heavy weights and being competitive, instead it's about staying active and healthy so that she can enjoy life with her family and friends.
How long have you been Crossfitting?
I’ve been doing CrossFit since May 2016.
What made you try CrossFit?
My husband signed me up! However, I’d also like to add that my mother had very bad osteoporosis and was wheelchair bound for the last 10 years of her life and was unable to move. Watching my mother struggle helped me realize that strength building is important and because of that I’ve always tried to stay active and in shape.
What has been your biggest accomplishment while at CFNP?
Strength building and energy for sure. I’ve found that I have so much more energy throughout the day.
I’ve also lost inches and really seen results here at the gym that I haven't ever seen anywhere else.
What’s the best thing(s) about CFNP?
The people; I like to go to the gym and work with people and know we are working together instead of being an anonymous person and working by myself.
Which class time do you most commonly attend?
I am a 6am regular with my daughter! (Don’t knock it until you try it guys.)
Is competing one of your goals?
No, at least it wasn't until I realized the Open was based on age now I’m thinking I might do that.
Do you have any advice for someone on the fence about trying CrossFit or joining CFNP?
If I can do it you can do it. Start slowly and build up.
What keeps you motivated?
The fact that I’ve lowered my BMI and my fat to muscle ratio has really changed for the better. I worked out throughout my life but this is the only change I’ve seen results and for the ladies reading this...goodbye cellulite!
What has been your favorite workout and why?
Rowing and box jumps. I'm not sure what it is I like about them but I really enjoy rowing for some reason.
What is your favorite cheat item?
Oh it is so bad but I love Klondike bars!
Anything I missed that you would like to share?
My husband signed me up because I’m a social person. He knew if I was in a community I would stick with it and he was right. I’ve made some really great friendship here at the gym and I love it.
