May Member of the Month-Luis Magdaleno

For our Member of the Month in May, we have chosen Luis Magdaleno! A newer member here at CFNP but someone who has shown enthusiasm and dedication from the moment he walked in the door. We all know what it is like to start CrossFit for the first time, you walk into the gym and not only are the movements new but you don't know anyone's name. You're essentially the new kid in school and as an adult that can be an uncomfortable position to be in. Luis on the other hand, walked into the gym and from the moment he joined it didn't matter if he was in an all ladies class run by Tawny blasting Beyonce or a mixed age and gender class Luis just seems to fit right in. We chose Luis as our Member of the Month for this month because while Luis has only been doing CrossFit for five months, he has jumped on the train consistently attending class every week and making huge gains at a rapid rate and is just an overall great guy to get fit with. How long have you been CrossFitting?

I've officially been CrossFitting for 5 months now but I've always been physically active.


What made you try CrossFit?

I needed to find a different way of working out, something with variety and high intensity.


What has been your biggest accomplishment while at CFNP?

My biggest accomplishment at CFNP has been hitting my first bar muscle up. (Yay!)


What’s the best thing(s) about CFNP?

The best thing at CFNP are its members, coaches, and positive energy.


Which class time do you most commonly attend?

7:30 is favorite class. 


Is competing one of your goals?

Maybe in the future, I still have some work to do.


Do you have any advice for someone on the fence about trying CrossFit or joining CFNP?

My advice is to try it, set yourself some goals and start crushing them.


What keeps you motivated?

Always wanting to push harder, lift heavier, and really trying to perfect the movements.


How has CrossFit changed your life?

It's completely changed my way of working out, its a challenge everyday.


What has been your favorite workout and why?

Pull ups, dead lifts, and anything with kettle bells.


What is your favorite cheat item?

In and Out


What is your favorite activity to do outside the gym?

Play baseball with my two boys, date nights with my beautiful Wife, and long rides on the Harley.




Anything I missed that you would like to share?

I am a state certified electrician currently working at LAX, a Dodger Fan, a Broncos Fan and a Beer fan.
